Weekly Update (15/11/09) – The Dark Knight sequel, Dollhouse axed, 2012, Kings and Queens

Welcome to the first edition of The Weekly Update. This column will be more or less a summary of the various things (articles, sites, videos, etc.) that I’ve come across in the past seven days. Future editions will be posted on Sunday nights so if you happen to like it you know when to check back.

To start things off, Sir Michael Caine (aka Alfred the Butler) stated that there might not be a sequel to The Dark Knight. You’ve probably heard numerous rumours and speculation about the sequel – from Kristen Bell playing Harley Quinn to Megan Fox as Catwoman to Johnny Depp as the Riddler. The latter was apparently confirmed, but in light of the recent news, it seems otherwise.

Joss Whedon’s latest struggling TV show, Dollhouse, has been officially axed. I personally watch Dollhouse. While the show is certainly compelling and exciting at some points, the first season kicked off with, well, it didn’t really kick off at all. With the first half of the season being mediocre at best, it certainly discouraged viewers from tuning in regularly. The Friday death slot isn’t doing much to help either.

The World’s Longest Film clocks in at 150 hours, almost an entire week. It’s actually not a movie at all but a collection of short 3 minute-ish clips all strung together. I guess if it was an actual movie, no one would be able to sit through the entire thing non-stop, let alone follow the plot.

Do you believe the world will end in 2012? Roland Emmerich’s latest disaster movie is pretty much The Day After Tomorrow 2.0. The CGI was impressive but apart from that it’s really just run off the mill stuff. Read the full review here.

A friend of mine showed me the work of a photographer named Peter Funch and I must say it’s very interesting. Despite all of the images being composites they seem to have been blended in seamlessly.

Finally, 30 Seconds to Mars have just released the music video for their latest single Kings and Queens from the upcoming album This Is War. The album is expected to hit shelves on 7 December 2009.
